National Carers Week is an opportunity to generate awareness among Australians about the role carers play in our community and the value they bring.

2021 marks the 30th annual Carers Week with the theme Millions of Reasons to Care that highlights the dedicated and incredible work of the 2.65 million unpaid carers across Australia. Throughout the week Australia comes together to celebrate carers by sharing their stories and amplifying their voices.

As part of Carers Week, here at Care Professionals we’re shining a light on some of our dedicated, hard-working carers who spend their days making other people’s lives better.

Meet Catherine, one of our valued team members and our Carer of the Month for August 2021! With 17 years of experience in aged care and 12 years as a professional cleaner, Catherine is a passionate carer who loves being able to make a difference.

Meet Rachael who grew up with a parent with a disability and didn’t have the best experience when seeking support. This motivated Rachael to become a carer herself and now she’s passionate about providing the best care possible for all of her participants.

Meet Rachel who started working in care at 16 when she volunteered at her local aged care facility. Because of this, Rachel has always had a special connection with the elderly and loves spending her days making people smile.

National Carers Week is an initiative of Carers Australia, funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services, and coordinated with the assistance and participation of the National Carer Network.
